UPDATE, May 9, 9:10 p.m. ET — The technical issue has been fixed. According to a Facebook spokesperson:
"Earlier this afternoon we experienced an issue with our serving infrastructure that prevented some people from accessing Facebook for a short time. We’ve resolved the underlying problem and service is recovering. We’re sorry for any inconvenience.”
UPDATE, May 9, 8:45 p.m. ET — According to Facebook's developer page, the company started experiencing "sitewide issues" at 7:32 p.m. ET Friday. The problem does not appear to be resolved, but it is affecting both the web version and Facebook platform.
If you're noticing something fishy about Facebook, you're not alone. The service appears to be down right now for some users.
Users are utilizing another social network — Twitter — to broadcast their displeasure over the site's hiccup. It doesn't appear to be down for everyone, although DownRightNow.com is reporting that there is a "likely service disruption" taking place.
When some users visited the site Friday, they were faced with an error message that read: "Your account is temporarily unavailable due to a site issue."
