HBO brings 'Game of Thrones' to Google Play

HBO's "Game of Thrones," the fantasy series that follows the tale of George R. R. Martin's novel series "A Song of Ice and Fire," is now available in the Google Play marketplace.
When customers open up Google Play on Wednesday, they'll find they can download the past two seasons of the show. Fans of the show can choose to buy the show by episode or by season. HBO is also selling "Newsroom" and "True Blood" in the store, among several other hits from the company.
"Game of Thrones" is already available in Apple's iTunes Store.
That HBO is expanding the availability of its popular shows to other platforms is notable. The company relies on subscribers to pay its bills and allows for free streaming of its content through HBO Go. That service, however, is available only to its subscribers. When buying its shows on iTunes or Google Play, customers don't need to be HBO subscribers, allowing them to sidestep the company's monthly fees.
